How to Celebrate Sinterklaas!

In our home, we celebrate the Dutch tradition of Sinterklaas.  We love it!  We have the boys put out wooden shoes on the 1st Monday night in December (traditionally it's the night of December 5th but we keep it the 1st Monday as our FHE activity), filled with carrots, and magically the next morning the carrots have disappeared and Sinterklaas has delivered a wonderfully delicious assortment of treats, goodies, and a small gift!  It's a lot of fun and a great way to start out the Christmas season.

If you want to start this tradition, here are some ideas for your celebration:

You'll need a chocolate letter initial for each person!

Droste are my favorite!  But really, any brand will do.

If you have them, wooden shoes are SO much fun to have for this.
If not, just use any pair.  Of course, the bigger the better to hold all the treats!

Fill shoes with treats from Sinterklaas!
The traditional treats are nuts, candy canes, fruit (tangerines) and
gold chocolate coins.
I know Sinterklaas has often brought other treats
to our home!  :)

Here's a great chocolate treat to include.

This is also a must!  Or you can use these...

...because the smaller ones are so cute and just as delicious!
