With 4 boys and assorted friends and family members here on a regular basis, we are ALWAYS making chocolate chip cookies! After much trial and few errors (since the boys eat whatever I make!), this recipe has taken the top spot as the go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. And would you believe...it's from the Betty Crocker's Children's Cookbook! Try these awesome chocolate chip cookies and you will see how great they are! (One hint that I haven't tried yet - my sister-in-law said that her cookies were flat lately. She switched to King Arthur Flour and hasn't had anymore problems. So check your flour if you are having flat cookies!)
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 bag milk chocolate chips (if you have access to V chocolate chips, use them!)
Cream sugars, butter, eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl, then add to sugar mixture. Mix well; add chocolate chips. Bake 7 - 10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown @ 375.
(Don't overcook them! They should look underdone. And my other sister-in-law swears by slapping the pan hard on the countertop when she pulls them out of the oven. )
(My sister always refrigerates her dough for a little while before she makes them. I've tried that and it does help them reduce their spread. We are just too impatient to add that little step on a regular basis!)
*The photo of the cookies, above, is how I get my boys home on time for curfew!
1) Make cookies
2) Take photo of cookies
3) Send photo with text message to come home early to get hot homemade chocolate chip cookies!
It works every time!
